Alan Wake Recovers developer investments for PC Version
Alan Wake just hit Steam on the 16th, and has already managed to skyrocketed to the top of the sales chart. Despite selling for a mere $30, the game has brought Remedy enough money within the first 48 hours of its launch, to cover all porting and marketing costs.
Alan Wake has repeatedly stressed that they love the PC and that they were “like a nagging little kid” trying to convince Microsoft to give them the green light for the PC port.
Despite being released nearly two years after the 360 version, Alan Wake has to be one of the finest PC ports of a game which originated on a console. Major bump in visuals (especially textures), great optimization, Stereoscopic 3D support, the inclusion of all DLC released and all for a budget price tag. The wait was well worth it if you ask us. A living testament that if a developer delivers on their product and cares about the platform, then the community is sure to reward them. This holds especially true to those developers and publishers who shy away form the PC over piracy concerns.
For those of you who have yet to experience this masterpiece, we plead with you, please pick it up ASAP. For a limited period, Steam is offering $5 off the Collector’s Edition which includes the game’s OST and developer commentary videos. So grab them while they last. Alan Wake will be arriving on other digital outlets such as Origin soon and a retailed version will also make its way to stores on March 2nd in Europe.
